Anticipated Movies of 2010

The thing that I like about watching movies in Korea:  you have an assigned seat you can pick out before the movie, so it's not first-come-first-served like at home.  The slightly unfortunate thing about watching movies in Korea:  sometimes you have to wait a few weeks (or a few months) before a movie released in the States is released here.  Occasionally we get lucky with movies that are released earlier than in the US ("Iron Man" was one of them).  Then there are the little independent movies that can take up to a year to get to Korea.  I remember being utterly perplexed to see "Alpha Dog" in the theater last year when it had come out in 2006 in the US.

Last year was a good year for movies, and I enjoyed seeing quite a few in the theaters here.  Also adding to the fun was the grand opening of the CGV IMAX theater at the bus terminal this past May, as now I could enjoy higher quality picture, sound, and of course, 3-D action.  Perhaps the best 3-D experience thus far would have to be "Avatar."  The quality of the picture was so amazing that it warranted two viewings, for maximum enjoyment!

With that being said, there are several movies that I am looking forward to in 2010.  In order of their (real or hopeful) release in Korea:

1.  Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (Feb. 11th)
2.  Valentine's Day (Feb. 11th)
3.  The Lovely Bones (Feb. 25th)
4.  Dear John (Mar. 4th)
5.  Alice in Wonderland (Mar. 5th)
6.  The Last Song (US:  April 4th, no Korean date set yet)
7.  Iron Man 2 (April)
8.  Letters to Juliet (US:  May 14th, no Korean date set yet)
9.  Twilight Saga:  Eclipse (June 30)
10.  Shrek Forever After (July 1st)
11.  Sex and the City 2 (US:  May 28th, no Korean date set yet)
12.  Despicable Me (US:  July 9th, no Korean date set yet)
13.  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:  Part 1 (US:  Nov. 19th, no Korean date set yet)

For a little taste of the upcoming movie season, I leave you with a poster for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:  Part 1:

  2. Harry Potter is going to be AMAZING!

Also, will let you know about Vampire Diaries. I like it so far I think - it's kiddish and simple, but entertaining and with eye candy. Escapist TV for sure!

And I do watch Glee! I just need to get the season finished. Thanks for reminding me! :)

  3. I was so happy to learn the last Harry Potter book would be made into two movies.

  4. Me too! With it being two movies, it's less likely to get horribly trimmed down for time constraints.
