At home in Homeplus

About once a week I make the trip down to Homeplus, a Tesco British-owned company that reminds me of Super Walmart back home. Homeplus is an awesome place; it's one that has many random familiar comforts of home magically appear on its shelves, only to disappear equally so. Thus, if you really like a new product, you'd better stock up while you can!

I went to Homeplus tonight as per my weekly pilgrimage, and stopped to grab a quick bite at the Golden Arches (I rarely abuse my body with fast food, but sometimes you just gotta go with it). The cool thing was that a whole group of soldiers from the Army were there, having dinner at the American Mecca. As I sat nearby, eating my dinner, I was reminded how nice it is to hear English spoken in places that only Korean touches. And being a former child of the military, it was also nice to see people from a setting I recognized; it made me feel more connected in this country where you are stared at from every turn. I didn't speak to them other than to say hello, but in that brief moment, we were all on the same page: foreigners far removed from what we know as home.

  2. Awww, thanks, it was taken at Damyang Bamboo Park, from a trail we went walking on and just happened to discover this open space.

  3. It's nice to see a positive comment done about the soldiers here. Usually everyone just complains!
