UNESCO to list Gwangju uprising records as world heritage

Just following the remembrance ceremonies for the May 18th Gwangju Uprising, UNESCO has announced that it will include records of the uprising in the Memory of the World Register.  These records are both visual and written, and would include police statements, court records, and photographs among others.

Outside of Gwangju and Korea, the May 18th Uprising is rarely heard or spoken about, so I feel that this will be a great way to preserve those memories as well as promoting dialogs about this important event.

  1. This is an excellent news... too bad Gwangju uprising still has a bad name among a lot of people in Korea.

  2. I was wondering... what program did you go through to English in Korea?
