Board Game Cafe

After visiting a board game cafe in Coex Mall in Seoul a while back, I had been searching in vain to find a similar establishment somewhere in Gwangju.  And this past weekend, my boyfriend and I found one in downtown.  Called the Dice Cafe, it boasts PS2, PS3, Wii, and a multitude of board games.  The cafe also has a great menu of drinks to enjoy while you're playing:  tea, coffee (hot/iced), beer, and soda.  The games cover a wide range of tastes: card, dice, board, word, strategy, and so on.  We've been there twice now and enjoyed a game of Life, and more than a few rousing games of Uno.  (By the way, Life is way more fun when it's in Korean!)  The staff there are very helpful and friendly, and want you to enjoy your time there.  Plus, it's super cheap.  We ordered a lemonade and an iced coffee for 7,500 won, and the game itself was only 1,500 won.  You can play for 3 hours at a time, but can stay longer for an extra fee if you'd like.  If you want to change games in your time there, it's no problem--just ask the staff for what you want to switch.  Also, the staff will give you a card you can get stamped for additional discounts on games if you're a repeat customer.  Chances are, once you go, you'll want to go back again and again!  It's a great way to pass some time if you're waiting for a movie to start or to kill time before dinner or meeting a friend.

This fun, cozy game room is tucked away on the third floor, across from the Wa Bar, and around the corner from Megabox Cinema.  Just look up for the sign, written in black and red lettering, and you'll know you're in the right place.  Who knows?  We might even see you there!
